Death of an alarm "Sales" man.

  Some say they eliminate the middle man.  We like to think that we eliminate the "sales" man.  Don't get us wrong, we have all the respect in the world for good sales people.  We've worked with some great sales professionals in many industries. 

The old ABC Dealer way: Knock on the door. (ADT actually has a course on door knocking for their dealers) Sell somebody a device with high monthly payments. Don't leave until they sign a long term contract that contains more legal jargon than a home loan.  It's no wonder why the turnover rate in the alarm sales industry is so high.  This is also why the "big" companies tell their installers to put in what was sold "or else".  They don't like changing paperwork simply because they didn't do it right the first time. 

Fact:Some stranger going around your neighborhood knocking on doors might be reason enough for a security system.

A veteran technician for one of the largest alarm companies was recently asked  "How long have you worked on alarm systems?"  He replied "22 years."   He was then asked "How long have sales people been screwing up jobs?"  He again replied  "22 years."

While no company is perfect, we find that doing the same thing over and over again fits the definition of "insanity".

The Activated Alarm method:  Send out a designer that can actually "DO" the job.  This helps the install go smoothly and insures that customers expectations are met or exceeded.  The designer will most often be part of the install, and in many cases, get you "Activated" right away. 

You should expect that your Activated Alarm representative will dress professionally, but probably not in a suit.  We suspect that new sales people at the big security companies must be told  "Wear a suit.  You don't want anyone asking you to check anything.  That gets scary. "
